Ways to Learn the Tupler Technique (Individual Sessions or the Lose Your Mummy Tummy Workshop)
We will work with you individually with one session or as many sessions you would like to have to help you close your diastasis. However, we have found that our program works best over a six week time period. We therefore recommend you see us three times, once every three weeks, over this six week period. You can see us individually in your home, office, or through skype or in our three class Lose Your Mummy Tummy workshop. The first class of the workshop is three hours and the last two classes are two hours. We only take 12 people in our Lose Your Mummy Tummy workshops.
Importance of Learning the Tupler Technique
Exercising your abdominal muscles incorrectly will make the diastasis (separation) of your abdominals larger. So before starting any exercise program it is crucial to learn the Tupler Technique. Once learned, you can then incorporate this program into your own exercise routine. You can also continue on with one of our instructors who will incorporate the Tupler Technique into a personal training or yoga session.
Learning the Tupler Technique will give you an understanding of how your core muscles work and the benefits to your abdominal muscles, back and pelvic floor.
Preparation to work with us
We recommend that you read the Lose Your Mummy Tummy book or watch the Lose Your Mummy Tummy DVD before you start working with us so you have a basic understanding of the Tupler Technique. This way, we can just review the technique instead of teaching it to you from scratch. This will make the highest and best use of our time with you.
Agenda for three individual sessions or Lose Your Mummy Tummy Workshop Classes
Session / Class One (Week One)
The size of your diastasis and waist will be measured. These measurements will be recorded. You will learn how to check yourself for a diastasis.
The four steps of the Tupler Technique will be reviewed:
- Seated Exercises: The instructor will make sure you are belly breathing and doing the seated exercises (Elevator & Contracting) correctly.
- Splinting: Participants will be taught the importance of double splinting (wearing and holding a splint) and the details of how and when to do this.
- Engaging Core Muscles: Participants will learn how to incorporate the core muscle into their activities of daily living.
- Getting up and down correctly from the following positions will be taught:
Back-lying to seated and seated to back-lying
Seated to standing and standing to seated
Session /Class Two (Week Three)
Participants will come to this individual session or workshop class with a strengthened core muscle and the following will be worked on:
- Progression of seated exercises
- Double splinting (wearing and holding a splint while doing the seated exercises)
- Headlifts
Session /Class Three (Week Six)
The size of your diastasis and waist will again be measured and recorded. Clients who have a smaller diastasis will receive a 20% discount off private session with Julie Tupler or on the purchase of one of our products.
A total body workout incorporating the Tupler Technique will be taught.
