julie tupler, RN
Executive Director, Founder
Julie Tupler, RN, was asked to teach a prenatal class at a
local health club in 1987 because she was a Registered Nurse.
When the women in the class found out that she was a nurse
they started picking her brain about labor. In order to find
out more about labor she became a childbirth educator. She
realized that traditional childbirth education came at the
end of the pregnancy and only prepared the mind. As in training
for any athletic event, she realized you must prepare both
the mind and the body. So Maternal Fitness® was conceived
in October, 1990.
Julie is a Registered Nurse, NCSF Certified Trainer and a
Certified Childbirth Educator. She has authored two books that
quickly became a leading resource on pregnancy and postnatal
recovery: Maternal Fitness®...Preparing for a Healthy
Pregnancy, an Easier Labor, and a Quick Recovery and Lose
Your Mummy Tummy.
Julie is an Advisory Board Member of Fit Pregnancy, Alpha Moms
TV, iParenting and the Women's Sports Foundation. She developed
the proprietary Tupler Technique abdominal exercises and provides
continuing education to numerous professionals. She is an Independent
Health Council Member of The Association of Professional Team
Physicians, a frequent keynote speaker and a consultant.
Julie lives in Gramercy Park with her daughter Flo, who is
5 years old.

President, Founder
As President and CEO, Heidi unites her 10 years of strategic
management consulting experience with 4 years of spa and fitness
facility management and business development experience. As a
management consultant with leading firms such as CSC Index, A.T.
Kearney and DiamondCluster in the US and Europe, she gained extensive
expertise in all areas of running a business – including
executive and team management, strategy development, financial
analysis, business case architecture, marketing, business development
and operations. Living in New York, Barcelona and London while
serving clients globally, Heidi's career spanned a wide range
from developing a brand and marketing strategy for a technology
company in London to managing the launch of a woman's multi-media
company in Portugal.
Seeking to unite her management expertise with her passion
for health and wellness, Heidi took a sabbatical from her consulting
career to research needs in the market. Listening to family
and friends with children, Heidi discovered that a trusted,
centralized, integrated wellness resource for pre- and postnatal
women was lacking. Thus, she founded spabébé LLC
in 2002. While developing the concept, Heidi left her consulting
career to delve into the spa market and gain inside industry
expertise, starting with her role as Spa Director at The Greenhouse.
Heidi revived this mid-down day spa and put it back on the
map of Manhattan's premiere luxury spas. She was then recruited
by CLAY to be the Director of Spa Development, charged with
the responsibility of turning around the fledging spa business
and streamlining customer service and front desk operations.
The CLAY Spa business reached new heights under her management,
growing revenues by 5x, drastically improving profitability
margins exceeding industry standards and greatly improving
front desk operations and efficiency. Heidi was also involved
in developing a wellness spa in the Catskills rooted in Tibetan
Buddhist traditions with Dr. Robert Thurman.
Heidi has an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School in New York
and a B.A. in Economics from St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
Heidi was formerly an A.C.E. certified fitness instructor with
a specialty in pre- and post-natal fitness, teaching fitness
classes throughout her college years.
Heidi lives in the West Village with her husband, Roddy, and
two sons, Jackson & Holden. |
