Pilates, especially tailored with the maternal fitness methods, is incredibly effective for staying fit and toned during and after pregnancy. Pilates is also excellent for achieving core strength and stability needed and eliminating back pain. However, without the appropriate modifications for pre- and postnatal women, Pilates can worsen diastisis.
